Goodreads Book Tag

It’s been two weeks since I last did a tag so I’m pretty sure it’s time for another one. And this time it’s the Goodreads Book Tag.

Thank you very much to @theorangutanlibrarian for tagging me to do this!

13600168What was the last book you marked as read?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Technically this was a reread, which gave me the perfect opportunity to use Goodreads’ new reread feature. But I remember so little from when I first read this story that it felt like reading it for the first time. I really enjoyed this book as I think the world and writing were beautiful, although the second half of the book kinda dragged for me. But I’m still looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Carnivalesque by Neil Jordan

I received an ARC of this back in December (I think) and I’m finally getting around to reading it! I don’t know why it took me so long. I’m only about 30 pages in and it’s interesting so far. I am a bit confused at the moment as to what’s going on but, hopefully, when I read further things will become clearer.

What was the last book you marked as TBR?

The You I’ve Never Known by Ellen Hopkins

I added this to my TBR because I’ve been seeing it around lots and it’s had mostly positive reviews. This book is told in a mix of prose and verse which is something I’m interested in, as I’ve never read a book written in verse before. The plot sounds kinda intense and heartbreaking but I’m looking forward to reading it at some point.

dobaspbkWhat book do you plan to read next?

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

So, seeing as I just finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I’m going to be reading it’s sequel. I enjoyed the first book so I’m curious at to where the story’s going to go. If it’s anything like the first book, then I should have a lot of fun reading it.

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes, I like rating the books I read so I can look back at a later point and see how much I enjoyed them. But, like many other people, I’d really love it you could rate with half-stars, as that’s what I use on my blog and I find it more accurate.

Are you doing a 2017 reading challenge?

Yes! My reading challenge for this year is 50 books which should be manageable, as it’s only a book a week. I’m hoping to exceed it but I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. I am currently ahead of schedule which is great!

Do you have a wishlist?

Not really. I have my TBR on Goodreads which is kind of my wishlist for books I would purchase if I had the money. But, as I rarely buy books, there’s not much point me having a proper one.

30312891What book do you plan to buy next?

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

I realise this book isn’t released until May but, as I mentioned before, I don’t really buy books. Cassandra Clare is one of the few authors whose books I do still buy though and I’m super excited for this one. I loved Lady Midnight to bits and I need to know what happens next. And I’m not going to want to wait for it become available in the library.

Do you have any favourite quotes? Share a few.

This one from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee:

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

Who are your favourite authors?

A few of my favourites are: Cassandra Clare, Leigh Bardugo, Marissa Meyer, Maggie Stiefvater and J.K. Rowling.

Have you joined any groups?

I’ve joined a few but I’m not very active in any of them because I’m a very antisocial person… But I do keep up with Top 5 Wednesday and I try to take part in it every week.

  1. Ah yes I feel like everyone’s taking advantage of the reread feature- it’s fantastic!! Plus I love that series too. And I feel like everyone agrees about the half stars!! Really wish they’d bring that in. Ah I want to read Lord of Shadows too! Great post!! Glad you did this 🙂
