I was tagged by Azia @amwillisjournal to do this tag and seeing as I haven’t done a tag in a while, I figured it was about time I got around to doing this one. I’ve seen this tag around and I’ve always enjoyed reading other people’s answers so I’m glad to be sharing my own ideas.
Totally should’ve gotten a sequel
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I just really want more from this world. I don’t feel like one book was enough for me, as I love the characters so much. I’d kinda prefer a prequel over a sequel though as this one was focused on Simon’s last year at Magick school. But I’d definitely take a sequel to follow up on Simon and Baz’s lives after the events of this book.
Totally should’ve had a spin off series
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
Ok, I know this book is already getting a Ronan focused spin-off series which I’m really excited for. But… I would love a Noah focused spin-off series (or book or novella or anything really). I just love Noah’s character a lot and there’s still so much about him that I want to know. So I think a series focusing on his past would be awesome.
An author who totally should write more books
Suzanne Collins
I can’t believe Suzanne Collins hasn’t released anything since writing The Hunger Games. In all fairness, she doesn’t really need to write anything new but I’d love to have something else from her. I’m interested in finding out what other story ideas she has.
A character who totally should’ve ended up with someone else
Alina from The Grisha Trilogy
I’ve mentioned this before and I will continue to talk about how annoyed I am with who Alina ended up with at the end of this series. There were better love interests that she could’ve got together with, which would’ve made the end of this trilogy much more satisfying.
Totally should’ve ended differently
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
I know I’ve mentioned this series already for a previous question but this is the first series that came to mind. Although I’m ok with how things ended in this novel, there were certain aspects to it that I didn’t enjoy all that much. Things kinda felt anticlimactic, leaving me slightly disappointed.
Totally should’ve had a movie franchise
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
If someone was to make movies for this series, I’m pretty sure they would be amazing! I love so many things about these books such as the the world, the characters and the relationships. And I think the plot would translate really over to film.
Totally should’ve had a TV show
The Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
I can see these books being a really great TV show, if they were done properly and had a decent budget. The characters and world are so amazing that I can’t imagine a TV show not being well-loved (as long as they keep things consistent with the books).
Totally should’ve had only one point of view
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Sometimes this series is successful with it’s multiple POV’s but there have been times when the different points of view have stopped me enjoying it. The two books that come to mind for this are Heir of Fire and Empire of Storms. I didn’t enjoy Manon’s POV in Heir of Fire, as it felt random and out of place. And then in Empire of Storms I disliked Aelin’s POV the most, as she’s changed a lot over the series and I prefer the side characters to her now.
Totally should have a cover change
The Angel series by L.A. Weatherly
I don’t think I even need to explain this one. I dislike the covers for this series so much! The colours are horrible and everything about it’s composition just looks dated and unpleasant. The series itself was ok but you’d never know that looking at these covers.
Totally should’ve kept the original covers
If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo
I really disliked that they changed the UK cover of this book. For another contemporary book, it would’ve been ok. But that’s the problem, it looks like just an ordinary contemporary book when it isn’t. I also loved how the original cover featured a transgender model on it but for some reason she wasn’t featured on this one.
Totally should’ve stopped at book one
The Maze Runner series by James Dashner
I liked the first book in The Maze Runner series lots. It was exciting and intriguing, but then it kinda went downhill from there. The rest of the books weren’t nearly as good as the first one, as the story steered away from the events that made it interesting in the first place.
I’ve thought about why Suzanne Collins hasn’t written anything else a bunch of times. Maybe it’s just too much pressure, too much high expectations from everybody. I would love to read something else by her though. Maybe someday! 😁

Yeah, The Hunger Games is definitely a lot to live up to! But I’d love to have something else from her

Alina and Noah deserved better! I also think The Raven King was a bit disappointing, it’s one of the few novels I haven’t given a star rating to.

Glad you agree about Alina and Noah 🙂 And I struggled to rate The Raven King, especially after loving the rest of the series so much.
