November TBR 2016!

Normally, I post my wrap-up and TBR as one post but I read loads of books in October and I have loads of books to read this month. So, I decided to split the posts so I could talk about things in a bit more detailed.

I have a lot of books to read this month. I got a load of books out of the library to read and I also have a couple of ARCs to get to. So this is kind of a TBR and also kind of a book haul. I probably won’t be able to read all of these books this month but I’m hoping to get through as many as I can.

I’ve not included the blurb for books that aren’t the first in the series because spoilers.

This is the second book in the Red Queen series. I read Red Queen ages ago and I’ve been meaning to read this book since it came out. I’ve kind of forgotten most of what happened in the first book but hopefully I’ll be able to understand what’s going on in this book.

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

16 years ago the kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. Now the Winterians’ only hope for freedom is the 8 survivors who managed to escape, and who have been trying to rebuild the kingdom. Orphaned as an infant during the Winter’s defeat, Meria has lived her whole life as a refugee. Training to be a warrior – and desperately in love with her best friend and future king, Mather – she would do anything to help Winter rise to power again. So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself.

This is one of those books that I’ve seen around a lot but I don’t actually know loads about. So, I’m excited to start it and see what it’s all about.

Cress by Marissa Meyer13206828

I finally found this book, the third in the Lunar Chronicles, at the library! I’ve love Marissa Meyer’s writing and I love this series so far. I’m eager to read this next book. This is one of those series that I’m aiming to finish as soon as possible because I really want to know how it wraps up.

13406425Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

Lilia used to trust boys but not after what happened this summer. And she’ll do anything to stop the same thing happening to her sister. Kat’s over the rumours, the insults, the cruel jokes made at her expense. It all goes back to one person – her ex-best friend – and now it’s payback time. Four years ago, Mary left town because of a boy. Now shes back, she’s going after him and she’s going to make him pay. Three very different girls who want the same thing: revenge, sweet revenge. And they won’t stop until they’ve each had a taste.

I’m interested in this book because it focuses on three girls getting revenge on a guy and I love a good, old revenge story. Hopefully, it’ll be good.

23846013The Rose Society by Marie Lu

This is the second book in The Young Elites trilogy. I read the first book last month and I adored it! I’m excited as to where this series is going and hopefully I love this book just as much as the first. Adelina, the main character, is one of my new favourite female protagonists. I love that she’s strong and has a dark side.

13620Death Note Volume 6 by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata

This is the sixth volume in the Death Note manga series which I’m slowly making my way through. I’ve only been reading a couple of volumes a month, whenever I can find them in the library, but I’ve been really enjoying this series. Although, I didn’t enjoy the direction the plot took in the previous volume, I’m hoping this one will rectify that somehow.

ARCs

cvodryjw8ais5hzA Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Bernard

Steffi has been a selective mute for most of her life – she’s been silent for so long that she feels completely invisible. But Rhys, the new boy at school, sees her. He’s deaf, and her knowledge of basic sign language means that she’s assigned to look after him. To Rhys, it doesn’t matter that Steffi doesn’t talk, and as they find ways to communicate, Steffi finds that she does have a voice, and that she’s falling in love with the one person who makes her feel brave enough to use it.

I read the synopsis of this book and I was intrigued, as it follows a girl who is mute and a guy who’s deaf and how they fall for each other. I’m kind of worried that this is going to be one of those books where the main characters fall in love and everything is fixed and perfect but hopefully it won’t be.

cvi7oimxeaaoo6sHeartless by Marissa Meyer

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen. At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

As I mentioned earlier, I love Marissa Meyer. And I also love anything Alice in Wonderland related and this book is a retelling of Alice of Wonderland, focusing on the Queen of Hearts. So, I’m super excited to read this!
